Phu1 Nam was a Hinduized kingdom that lasted from the second to the sixth
centuries, and occupied large areas of South Vie65t Nam and Cambodia. The
Phu1 Nam people cultivated rice, beans, cotton, raised pigs, sheep and
elephants, and worshiped Brahma, Vishnu and Siva. O1c Eo appeared as the
early capital of Phu1 Nam and was a major trading port, with sea-links as far
reaching as Rome, Persia, India and China. This highly developed kingdom was
swallowed up by the Khmer Chenla Empire during the seventh century.
